With more than 25 years as a sale executive, lecturer, motivational speaker, and a single father raising two daughters, Michael understands the complexity of communication especially related to gender communication.
His unique personal and professional background makes him one of the most engaging speakers who can bridge the communication gap between male and female. Being a male, he is biologically wired to think like a man; however, having to raise two daughters, from the age of 3 and 5, forced him to think like a woman. Playing this dual role enables him to fully understand the challenges and address the difference in male and female communication with practical real-life advice.
Prior to starting his own business communication consulting firm, Michael Johnson & Associates, Inc., Mike enjoyed a successful sales career with General Electric. During his tenure, he received many top sales honors, including Top Salesman and the Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Performance. With a successful track record, he was also recruited to develop and teach sales training courses for other GE employees.
Mike is also a lecturer and a motivational speaker. He lectures for San Jose State College of Business, UCSC and the Haas Graduate School of Business at U.C. Berkeley on entrepreneurship. As a motivational speaker, he is the host of “Control Your Destiny”, a motivational series on TAZA Radio, designed to help professionals move out of their comfort zones and achieve new levels of success.
In addition, Mike is an active participant in volunteer work. He is on the board of the Association for Corporate Growth and an active member of Boardroom Bound, an organization dedicated to assisting women prepare for and obtain board positions in corporate America.
